An unforgettable field-trip
to the land of Labdanum.
Understanding Cistus as a plant
and its extracts along with historical use and its role in perfumery.

We go beyond observations as we lose ourselves in the wonders of the Botanical Park of Crete. We make a contemplative creative pause to learn about the signature of plants, morphology and patterns and improvise on a botanical drawing workshop.

How to respectfully collect, dry & process aromatic herbs? Some of our discussion topics on our trip to Wild Herbs of Crete, an artisan essential oil distillery and apothecary in a hidden mountain village at west Crete.
4 WORKSHOPS

We discover the world of botanical perfumery. Learn how we create perfumes using only natural essential oils and extracts. Why natural botanicals are different, and what makes them a better choice for our wellbeing too?

We dive into a deeper understanding of vegetable oils, discuss how we use base oils and plants, and get to make our own herbal infusions.

We journey with lavender, experience uniqueness from geographical location, climate, growing, harvest & extraction methods.

BONUS CLASS: Authentic Cretan Cooking
How could things be authentic or holistic, if we do not go as full circle as possible? Herbs are featured in cuisines since the beginning of history adding their aromas to signature dishes. Needless to say, there is nothing as good as fresh produce, and getting fresh means going local. That's exactly what we will do on this absolutely sticky class! You can put your hands on the fresh local veggies and spices and learn to prepare a full meal of classic Cretan dishes. And with it, the joyful way of sharing a full table of home-made plates.

I am ultimately connected to nature which is both a source of inspiration and a life-style worth living. While mostly spending my time on Crete, I bring along holistic life-changing experiences through highly-inspiring and transformative aromatic journeys. Essential Reflections is a holistic label I use for writing, photography and botanical creations. Plants, harvesting, distilling, herbal formulations & aromatherapy blending are all integral part of my daily life and teachings, just as therapy work, consultations, and empowering others.

Natural Skin Care Formulator, Botanical Perfumer & Holistic Aromatherapist
After planting 4000 lavender plants and establishing my own little lavender plantation in Hungary I went on and founded my premium holistic skin care brand Mar Galliti skin care & botanicals in 2017. I formulate and create all the products in my own studio/atelier. The values me and the brand stands for are very human, natural and instinctive. Sustainability, awareness, social sensitivity, the love of nature and animals are not only words for me, but my true philosophy, a part of my daily routine.
